Obituary for Len M. Ivany
Len was born on April 23, 1967 in Markland, NL to Phyllis and Orlando Ivany who resided on Random Island, NL. He is predeceased by his Dad Orlando Ivany, and his brother-in-law John Martin. Left with fond and loving memories are his precious wife Shannon, mother Phyllis, brother Glen (Chrissy), sister Emily, in-laws Ford (Wanda), brother-in-law Jared (Julia), and three nephews John, Caleb, and Gabriel. Len also leaves behind a large circle of family and friends. He passed away suddenly at home with his wife by his side, in Gander on Friday, November 22, 2019.
Len & his twin brother Glen were born two months premature. At the time they were the smallest babies on record to have survived on the island of Newfoundland. They spent many months in the newly opened Janeway Hospital, but with their sister Emily still at home their mother Phyllis had to return to Random Island to care for her. At that time there were no phone lines, and the only way for their father to send updates to their mother on the boys was to have the radio station announce on the air that the boys were doing well.
Len was a bright energetic kid who loved to take things apart and put them back together. At the age of 16 he built his mother's kitchen cabinets, a set that she had for over 30 years. As an adult Len had the same love of building things. He filled his and Shannon's home with his beautiful creations. There was very little Len could not turn his hand to. As much as Len loved creating things he loved helping others more. He was the epitome of a true friend, he was warm, empathetic, and quick to give you a hug when you needed it. He made time for everyone, regardless of what was going on in his own life. His kindness, sense of humor, and bright smile made him a favorite everywhere he went.
Len was an exceptional husband to Shannon, loving and attentive. Having found each other later in life they felt they were truly blessed to have each other. They had 10 incredible, happy years together before his sudden passing.
He will also be remembered for his godly devotion. Len decided to symbolize his dedication to Jehovah God, at the age of 22, by being baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Len loved his God Jehovah & stayed busy in his service. Len served as both a ministerial servant and elder throughout his years of faithfulness. He was privileged to be included in assemblies and convention departments, the ASL group, and Kingdom Hall construction. This brought him many blessings, including long lasting friendships. Most importantly, he met the love of his life during the construction of the Gander Kingdom Hall.
Resting at Stacey's Funeral Home Wednesday November 27th 10 am- 12 noon. Funeral service will follow at
2PM from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness with interment All Saints Cemetery , Gander.
