Joe & I were saddened & shocked to hear of the sudden passing of Your Mom, Sister and Nan. 22 years ago we started to spend our Summer Months in Gander & one of the first people we met was Geraldine. From that very first get together a bond developed & remained with us throughout the years. Our 2 children, Sheldon & Annette, and later their spouse & children became a part of Geraldine's life. They, as us, came to love Geraldine & spent many a day with her either at our campsite or in her beautiful garden. When we go back to Gander in a few weeks we will dearly miss Geraldine, her smile, compassion & love. However, We are privileged to have known her & will cherish our many memories. To Geraldine's family...I am struggling with this message of condolance because I don't want to believe that Gerry is really gone. I am sure I am not the only one to feel this way. I know in time you will be able to look back at the good times without crying, but right now, that seems impossibly far away. Geraldine was one of those special people who, once you were her friend, that's it ... you were her friend forever. It didn't matter that, after we moved to NS, and I only saw her when I visited Gander, we could sit down with a glass of wine or a cup of tea in her beloved sunroom, and chat away like old times. Toby, Keith, Stephanie and Pauline, Words can hardly express my shock and sadness hearing of Geraldine's passing. She was an incredible woman who had a gift of welcoming people and making them feel good about themselves. The home she made for you was truly special and I feel very lucky to have been able to share in that throughout the years. Although I am not able to be there, please know that my thoughts are with you all over the coming days. May you find comfort in the memories of a beautiful smile of a truly beautiful person.
